Join us for an essential introduction to Thermal Imaging and Building Science designed for home inspectors!
This 2-hour virtual class will cover the fundamentals of building science and the use of infrared technology to better evaluate structures, with emphasis on Illinois standards and real-world applications.

Topics include:

  • The role of building science in understanding homes as systems

  • Identifying and analyzing environmental separators (heat, air, water, vapor barriers)

  • Evaluating the building envelope for insulation, ventilation, and moisture control

  • Understanding heat, air, and water interactions and their impact on building performance

About the Speaker:

William Decker

William J. Decker Jr., President of Decker Home Inspection Services, LLC, is a licensed Illinois Home Inspector and Certified Master Inspector. He holds a B.S. in Physics from DePaul University and has performed professional home inspections since 2005, completing over 8,000 residential inspections, 300+ commercial inspections, and 5,000+ building consultations. William has authored and taught numerous continuing education courses on topics such as thermal imaging, building science, water intrusion, and legal aspects of home inspection. He co-authored the InterNACHI Home Inspection Thermography Certification course and regularly presents at national industry conventions. A former President of the NACHI Chicago Chapter and recipient of multiple awards including the NACHI National Member of the Year, he is also a certified thermographer, mold inspector, and environmental inspector. William has served as an expert witness in various state and federal court cases related to residential and commercial property disputes. He can be reached at [email protected]
